The solar inverter/charger Victron Multiplus 12/3000-120/50 230V VE.Bus Inverter Charger belongs to the Victron Multiplus Inverter/Charger product line from Victron Energy.

The name of this inverter/charger indicates that the voltage of the inverter is 12V and the continuous power (non-linear) at 25°C is 3000VA. The AC power outlet plug is SCHUKO with an output voltage of 230 V. The battery charging current has a capacity of 120A and the capacity of the transfer switch is 50A.

The Victron´s MultiPlus Inverter/Charger combines a potent true sine wave inverter with an advanced battery charger and a high-speed AC transfer switch into one small box. In addition to these fundamental capabilities, the MultiPlus has a number of advanced features, which are listed below:

The power output can be increased by operating up to six Multis in parallel. The configuration of three units can be made for three-phase output in addition to parallel connection.

The maximum generator/shore current can be set using the Multi Control Panel. The MultiPlus will then consider other AC loads and use any extra for charging, preventing overloading of the generator/shore supply.

The concept of PowerControl is expanded upon by this feature: the MultiPlus Inverter is able to increase the capacity of the substitute source thanks to it. When peak power is frequently only needed for a brief time, the MultiPlus Inverter/Charger will make sure that any shortfalls in shore/generator power are immediately made up for by power from the battery. The battery is recharged using the extra power when the load is reduced.

Through the use of cutting-edge "adaptive charge" software, the main output gives the battery system a strong charge. The software adjusts the three-step automatic process to the battery's condition and adds a fourth stage for extended float charging. The MultiPlus will furthermore charge a second battery using a separate trickle charge output designed for a generator starter battery or a main engine.

The MultiPlus Inverter/Charger provides the high start-up power needed to start high inrush loads such as electric tools, power converters for LED lamps or halogen lamps.

The power consumption of the inverter in no-load operation is reduced by about 70% when Search Mode is set to "on." In this mode, the Multi switches on every two seconds for a brief period while in inverter mode and turns off when there is no load or a very light load. The inverter will keep running even if the output current exceeds a predetermined threshold. Otherwise, the inverter will cut off once more.

The programmable relay is initially configured as an alarm relay, meaning that it will turn off in the event of an alarm or pre-alarm (inverter nearly too hot, input ripple nearly too high, battery voltage nearly too low).

The MultiPlus Inverter/Charger can be accessed remotely and settings can be modified with Victron´s VRM (Victron Remote Management) website when connected to the internet. Installing a Cerbo GX or comparable GX device (optional, not provided with the product) is required to connect to the internet.
