MK Powered 24V 8A charger for wheelchairs and mobility scooters

The MK Powered 24V 8A battery charger is designed to recharge lead-acid batteries used in electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters and other 24V electric equipment.

It is suitable for flooded lead-acid, AGM and GEL batteries. Its automatic operation controls the different charging stages and switches to maintenance mode once the batteries are fully charged.

It is particularly suitable for equipment that uses two 12V batteries connected in series to create a 24V system. MK Battery recommends an 8-amp charger for battery sets with an approximate capacity of 40 to 79Ah, always taking into account the instructions provided by the wheelchair or mobility scooter manufacturer.

Round 3-pin XLR connector

The charger is fitted with a round 3-pin XLR connector, commonly used on many electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Before purchasing, check the shape of the connector, the pin arrangement and the polarity of the original charger. Two chargers having the same voltage and a similar-looking connector does not necessarily mean that they are compatible.

Automatic charging for AGM, GEL and lead-acid batteries

The charger supplies an initial current of up to 8 amps and automatically regulates the voltage throughout the charging process. Once charging is complete, it switches to maintenance voltage to keep the batteries charged without requiring manual control of each stage.

Charge status indicators

The indicator lights make it easy to check that the charger is operating correctly and to see the approximate charging status:

• Flashing green: charger connected to the mains supply.
• Flashing orange: pre-charge stage.
• Solid orange: battery charging.
• Flashing green and orange: approximately 80% charged.
• Solid green: battery fully charged and maintenance mode active.
• Flashing red: fault, incorrect connection or defective battery.

Built-in protection

For safer charging, the charger includes protection against:

• Output short circuits.
• Incorrect connection or polarity.
• Overheating.
• Charging connector faults.

How to check compatibility

Before purchasing this charger, check the following information on the original charger or in the equipment manual:

1. The battery system operates at 24V.
2. The batteries use lead-acid, AGM or GEL technology.

5. The pin arrangement and polarity are the same.

This charger is not designed for lithium or LiFePO4 batteries. These battery technologies require a dedicated charger that is compatible with their battery management system.

How to look after mobility batteries

• Recharge the batteries after using the wheelchair or mobility scooter.
• Do not leave the batteries discharged for long periods.
• Complete full charging cycles in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's instructions.
• Do not mix batteries of different technologies, capacities, ages or manufacturers.
• Connect the charger to the equipment first and then plug it into the mains supply.
