The Victron CAN-bus temperature sensor (ASS000200100) is designed for Buck-Boost DC-DC converters and enables charging control to respond to battery temperature. In LiFePO4 systems it helps prevent charging when cells are too cold, a condition that can permanently damage them.
The measured temperature is sent to the converter over CAN-bus. The sensor can also work with Victron Multi or Quattro equipment for temperature-dependent charging control and provides battery-temperature monitoring, status LEDs, an alarm output and an output for disconnecting a heavy load.

Before ordering, confirm that the converter and CAN-bus architecture require this accessory. Do not confuse it with the BMV temperature sensor or ASS000001000 for direct GX temperature inputs. Why is it important for LiFePO4 batteries? These batteries must not be charged when excessively cold; the sensor allows the system to reduce or stop charging.
Can it be used with every Victron temperature input? No. The part number and interface must match the equipment; this model is intended for Buck-Boost converters and CAN-bus communication.
