Victron Battery Protect 12/24V 100A Battery Protector
The Battery Protector Victron Battery Protect 12/24V 100A is designed to identify the system voltage, 12V or 24V, automatically, for a system with a current of maximum continuous load of 100A and can be configured to activate or deactivate at a variety of voltages. Its seven segment display will show which setting has been selected.
Victron Battery Protect product line
Before the battery is completely depleted, which could damage it, or before it has too little power left to start the engine, BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential loads. It features ultra-low current draw, which is very important in the case of lithium-ion batteries, surge protection to safeguard sensitive loads, and is built to ignition test (no sparks).
BatteryProtect is a unidirectional device, which means it can only handle current flowing in one direction, such as current from a charger or current to a load, but not both currents simultaneously. Also, the only direction current can flow is from the battery terminal to the load terminal. The battery connects to the battery terminal when used with a load, while the charger connects to the battery terminal when used with a charger.
The on/off input can be used as a system on/off switch.
BatteryProtect features a unique configuration for lithium-ion batteries that can be controlled with the Victron VE.Bus BMS (Battery Management System), a stand-alone product (not included in the price). In addition, BatteryProtect can be used as a charging switch between a battery charger and a lithium-ion battery.
If the battery voltage drops below the predetermined disconnect level for more than 12 seconds, the alarm output is activated. As a result, starting the engine will not activate the alarm. The alarm output is an open collector short-circuit proof output to the negative (negative) rail with a maximum current of 50 mA. Typically the alarm output is used to activate a buzzer, LED or relay.
90 seconds after the alarm is activated, the load will be disconnected. If the battery voltage returns to the connection threshold within this time period - for example, after starting the engine - the load will not be disconnected.
After 30 seconds, the load will reconnect if the battery voltage exceeds the specified reconnect value.
Please note that BatteryProtect is not designed for reverse currents from charging sources.
